As the owner of a small business, I want to thank each and every one of you who are choosing to support SMBs this year.

Something to consider. When you support small businesses, freelancers, side hustlers, and all the entrepreneurs out there, you're actually...

  • Helping someone pay their bills or make ends meet for their family.

  • Putting food on the table for their family.

  • Helping a kiddo in your community take up a hobby, take dance lessons or join a football team and stay actively involved.

  • Helping a family pay their mortgage and keep a roof over their heads.

  • Giving someone the opportunity to follow their passion.

  • Affording someone the chance to build a legacy of change and impact for the community.

  • Helping SOMEONE YOU KNOW build their dreams rather than a millionaire out there you’ll never meet.

And you can find local small businesses to support EVERYWHERE! Check your local newspaper, or business resources such as your local economic development group, chamber of commerce or tourism websites.

It’s choosing that local restaurant over the chain one. It’s jewelry or crafts made by a local artisan running their ETSY shop. Buy baked goods from a local bake shop rather than the Safeway or Whole Foods. Shop your local hardware store instead of Home Depot. Call up your local retailers instead of searching on Amazon. Even supporting a friend or neighbor trying to build an income with their online beauty, health, fitness, consulting, design or marketing business and products. It’s all the same. Someone working hard for their dream. Someone who believes in the value of service or products and wants to share with those around them. Someone who needs and values the support of those individuals believing and investing in them!

This is the year, for each of us to make a change, to choose how and where we spend our money, and make the choice to support one another. So let’s make it a theme, not just this holiday season and this year, but next year and every year thereafter.
